New Page 1TogMog - 2012 Surrey Walk Wednesday March 7th 2012 This is a walk with something for everyone, open woodland, heathland, rural farms and trails on Greensand which is dry even in winter. We will meet at The Drummond Arms, Albury (Explorer map 145; grid ref: 5049/1478) which has two car parks - please park in the second car park set beyond the stream, which will be ideal for the Morgans and away from the road. Coffee will be available from 10.00am and we aim to leave there at 10.30. We expect to arrive back around 1.00pm for lunch. There will be varied countryside to enjoy as we leave the village of Albury below and walk south and east towards Albury Warren, Our walk takes us through the grounds of the Duke of Northumberland's estate, past the point marked with a plaque where Field Marshal Montgomery addressed the troops in May 1944 prior to their leaving for the Normandy Landings. On the return we pass through the pretty valley of the Tillingbourne stream with its Drummond Chapel, an historic rural church mentioned in the Domesday Book. The walk is about 4 miles long, is not strenuous and there is only one easily crossed style. To give an idea of numbers please email Bob or Heather on the Review email review@hopmog.co.uk, preferably by the end of February. For your information the address of The Drummond Arms, The Street, Albury, (near Guildford), Surrey GU5 9AG
