TOGS - Goodwood House - 4th August.
Goodwood House is at the centre of the Goodwood Estate which , of course includes the World famous race course and also the equally renowned motor circuits. The House itself has been the home of The Duke of Richmond and Gordon since the times of Charles II and today is family home to The Earl of March and Kinrara (son of the present Duke). Apart from its sporting history, the House is also home to celebrated paintings by Canaletto and Stubbs and to fine Sevres porcelain and Regency furniture.During the week of our visit there is a special exhibition entitled "The Goodwood House Party" which seeks to recreate the atmosphere of a houseparty in Regency times.

Please do not travel in convoy. You can , after all , arrive at Goodwood earlier and have a look around the park etc.. Contact Ben for the menu choices and a map of the Estate with the locaton of the Hotel. We go in the Park entrance for the House.
Please let Ben know by Wednesday 21st July whether you are coming along and what your choices are. Ben contact details in Calendar of events or email via review@hopmog.co.uk

TOGS - New Venue - Semaphore Tower Surrey - 1st September.
The new venue is the Napoleonic Wars Semaphore Tower located on Chadley Heath, Surrey.
The tower is normally only open on 6 Sundays per year, but the Warden has agreed to a special opening for TogMog.
We propose meeting at 10.00 for coffee in the Boldermere Car Park, just off the A3, south of junction 10 of the M25, in Old Lane. There are toilets in the car park as well if needed. The Tower is about a 20 minute walk, sign posted (sandy and flat) across the common. A conducted tour takes about 40-50 minutes and the warden, Steve Hill, has suggested 2 groups, 1 at a time starting at 11.00. The cost is 3.00 each and 2.00 for concessions.
The Chadley Heath Semaphore Tower was once part of a chain of towers which was used to transmit messages between the Admiralty in Whitehall and the Royal Naval Dockyard in Portsmouth. It was built in 1822 and is now the only surviving tower in a chain that stretched from London to Portsmouth and was restored in 1989. We have attached the Surrey County Council/Surrey Wildlife Trust visitor guide and self guided trail for further information.
We have arranged for lunch at The Black Swan, Old Lane, Ockham, Surrey KT11 1NG, which is further along the same road as the Boldermere car park, in approximately 1.5 miles. The pub has been recently refurbished, has a large car park and serves excellent food. We have booked what they call their dining room (an area next to the main bar, seating 36 and direct access to the garden seating though patio windows) for 13.15-13.30 and food served until 15.00.
Mike and Audrey Allen are organising this event contact details in Calendar of events or email via review@hopmog.co.uk
